Our Rising Woman Series—an exciting offshoot of the broader Rising program—takes on the crucial charge of female empowerment in the global economy. Published in Forbes Africa and now on NBC.com, this multi-volume effort has featured over 1,000 women from across the global majority. From philanthropy to health and education, energy, finance, tech, and infrastructure—our rising women demonstrate the value of diverse leadership and the power of the female voice. It started with Africa and has now evolved into global profiles spanning North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Since 2018, the Rising Woman Series has spotlighted exceptional women shaping business, policy, technology, and social progress—published annually on NBC Washington and reaching audiences around the world.
Now in its 10th edition, the series elevates global voices advancing sustainable development, digital innovation, and social equity. These women are not just contributors to global dialogue—they are defining its direction.
Our honorees include heads of state, cabinet ministers, groundbreaking CEOs, and visionary leaders transforming their industries. From President Netumbo Nandi‑Ndaitwah of Namibia’s historic leadership to H.E. Dr. Rania A. - Our Reason
The Inspiration Behind the Rising WOMAN Project
Our founder’s mother was the inspiration behind the Rising WOMAN project.
In 2018, following her mother’s diagnosis with dementia, our founder identified a phenomenon she called Silent Leadership, where the voices of women in Africa remain unheard, their potential untapped, and their tireless dedication to family, community, and the continent overlooked.
Her mother’s experiences were shaped by the harrowing 1967 Biafra war that devastated the Igbo tribe in Nigeria. The war brought extreme poverty, famine, violence, and widespread PTSD, leaving lasting scars on everyone, including her mother.
The Rising WOMAN Series, Africa Edition was created in partnership with Forbes Africa as a tribute to her mother and a celebration of all African women and global women impacting the continent.
Six years later, this legacy continues with the Global Women Impacting the World series on NBC, which is supported by a five-year publishing contract.
